Frequently Asked Questions
Registration
What is the registration fee and minimum fundraising amount?
The registration fees for the 2025 Bay Street Games are as follows:
- Early Bird (Until April 1 at 11:59pm): $450/team ($75/person)
- After April 1: $600/team ($100/person)
The registration fee is non-refundable, non-receiptable and non-transferrable. This fee is not included in the minimum fundraising total that is required to be eligible.
The minimum fundraising amount for the Bay Street Games is $6000 per team to be eligible to win.
I want to participate but the registration fee is too high. How can I still participate?
We understand that registration fees and fundraising goals can sometimes be challenging to meet. If you need assistance, we recommend speaking with your company about potentially covering/matching/supporting the cost as part of their professional development or philanthropic support initiatives. Many organizations are happy to invest in their employees' community involvement and have programs built for doing just that.
What does the registration fee go towards?
The registration fee helps cover the costs of hosting the Bay Street Games, ensuring that more of your fundraising dollars directly support C4K’s impact work in the youth mental health space.
Please note that tax receipts are not issued for the registration fee.
If the event is cancelled for any reason, will we be refunded our registration fee?
Registration fees can be refunded or transferred to the following year if the event is cancelled for any reason. Donations, however, are non-refundable and non-transferable.
What are the transaction fees that I’m being asked to cover with my registration?
During checkout, you will be asked if you wish to cover the transaction fee on your registration and/or donation. There is no requirement for you to do so, however, covering this fee further supports Capitalize for Kids in our efforts to fundraise by offsetting this cost.
Who can participate?
The Bay Street Games is an 18+ event and open to all members of your firm (please ensure all members register with their work email). Please contact the Capitalize for Kids’ Events Team if you need to source a member from outside your organization.
In alignment with Capitalize for Kids’ core values of equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and reconciliation, we are dedicated to fostering a vibrant and inclusive culture where everyone is welcomed and celebrated. As part of this commitment, we strongly encourage teams to include at least two females or gender-diverse individuals in each team, ensuring a diverse range of perspectives that reflect our values. While participation is always voluntary, we believe this approach will contribute to the continued creation of a dynamic and equitable environment for the 2025 Bay Street Games.
Fundraising
How do I start fundraising?
Log in to your personal fundraising dashboard. Update your personal page and share why you are participating in the Bay Street Games. Kickstart your fundraising efforts by making a personal donation, then ask for support by sharing the link to your fundraising page on social media or by emailing it to friends and family.
Are all donations eligible for a tax receipt?
All donations made online through the Bay Street Games website will automatically be issued a tax receipt via email.
If you are entering a donation on someone else’s behalf, ensure you include their correct name, mailing address and email address so they will receive their tax receipt.
I have lost my original tax receipt and require a duplicate. What should I do?
Please contact us at events@capitalizeforkids.com. To help us quickly locate your donation, kindly provide as much detail as possible about your contribution.
What happens if I don’t reach my commitment?
To participate in the event, each team must raise a minimum of $6,000 by event day. If your team hasn’t met this goal, we encourage you to make a personal donation or ask your firm for a contribution—both are tax-receiptable.
We’re confident that by following our fundraising tips, and by reaching out early if you need support, you’ll be able to meet your goal! If you have any challenges along the way, feel free to contact us at events@capitalizeforkids.com — we’re happy to help!
Why is there a minimum fundraising requirement?
We set an ambitious yet attainable fundraising minimum to encourage teams to aim high and help raise important funds to improve Canada’s community mental health system, so all children, youth, and families can thrive. About Capitalize for Kids
What does Capitalize for Kids do?
Capitalize for Kids is a charitable organization dedicated to improving Canada’s community mental health system, so all children, youth, and families can thrive. Our team of expert management consultants tackles complex problems in the sector, working with mental health agencies by creating a more efficient, accessible system, so counsellors and therapists can focus on what matters most – the kids.
Where do the proceeds from Bay Street Games go?
At Capitalize for Kids, we harness a unique approach to create system-level change across the community child and youth mental health sector. We partner with community-based agencies to identify, fund, and implement scalable, long-lasting solutions so mental health professionals can provide quality and timely care.
By sharing the latest tools and technologies, streamlining inefficient processes, and measuring the tangible impact of our efforts, we use our consulting skills to enact real, positive change in the Child Youth Mental Health space – removing barriers, reducing waitlists, and improving the operational and clinical landscape for community-based mental health agencies.
At Capitalize for Kids, impact isn’t just a goal—it’s the measure of our success. Our work is guided by five key domains that ensure every initiative leads to meaningful, lasting change:
- KIDS Come First: Youth and their families receive high-quality, client-centered care.
- KIDS Can’t Wait: Families have timely access to continuous mental health services.
- Caring for KIDS’ Heroes: Providers are supported and empowered to deliver exceptional care.
- Every KID Counts: Equitable opportunities ensure all youth receive services that meet their needs.
- Capitalizing Care: Resources are deployed to maximize value for both clients and the system.
By prioritizing these domains, we ensure that every effort we make contributes to a stronger, more effective mental health system for children and youth.
